Fave Etsy Finds – Hats FOR Animals

above photo from CuteOverload.com

Last week I shared a collection of Animal Hats that I adore. So how else to follow the cuteness of animal hats, but with animals IN hats!

Monday Inspiration - Saul Bass

I watched Vertigo this weekend and was reminded of how much I enjoy the posters and design of Saul Bass. His distinctive style is iconic and has been influential on so many contemporary graphic artists. Just look at the number of familiar logos he has designed!

You can read and view more of his work on his site here. Another of my favorites below.

Fave Etsy Finds – Animal Hats

Inspired by the absolutely darling tiger hat over at A Beautiful Party, I went on a search today for more fun and fabulous animal hats on Etsy. I was not disappointed!

Working from home I have the freedom to dress as silly as I want. I can just envision myself in any of these hats, designing corporate brochures and giggling to myself. Cheers!

Monday Inspiration

Today I'm inspired again by Wayne Thiebaud who I looked at a LOT when I was in school and doing a lot of food paintings. His color and textural paint make me giddy (and hungry).

Phew, was November ever a crazy whirlwind of activity and work. Well, hold on tight kiddies because December is looking like a wild ride as well!

Things have been a blast at Local Roots. Here are a few photos taken of my table last weekend by the Incomparable Baklava Queen...

I'm excited to be offering some unique items for the next three Saturdays at the market as well. Look forward to spotting some one-of-a-kind notebooks, pins, earrings and more! I'll share my creations through the week ahead.

Art Every Day Month - Nov. 24

Last weekend's sale was a blast! So much great feedback and a lot of information to digest. I have some great ideas of things to tweak for next week.

Wait, what? Next week? I thought this was a one time deal!

Not so! The success and resounding positive feedback that we received last weekend at Local Roots about our holiday market has inspired us to include more art and artisans through the holiday season. This will also help us to fill out the space as the peak of the harvest wanes.

Miss last week's event? Stop down any Saturday now through Dec. 19 and check it out!

Now in the meantime, I've added these friends to my online shop...

Art Every Day Month - Nov. 16

What a crazy month! My overflowing table of materials and inventory is a clear indicator that I've jumped in head first!

On Sunday I discovered this sweet bun, "Sherbet"...

And then on Monday, a few snow critters came to play (it's not snowing yet here so I don't know how they made it):

Simon the Snow Bunny...

And Fiona the Snow Kitty...

You can meet them this weekend at the Local Roots Holiday Market. And I've just been informed that there will be balloon animals! YAY!

Art Every Day Month – Weekend Roundup

This weekend was a flurry of art and energy!

First, Local Roots opened it's doors on Saturday morning with a Farmers' Market that was bustling with activity. After helping to get the credit card machine working and chatting up the producers and shoppers, I did my own shopping and came home with TONS of yummy goodies.
There will be another farmers' market this weekend and the following Saturday, the 21st is our first annual Holiday Market.

This is what kept me busy artistically this weekend. My first art sale is only 2 weeks away! Along with promoting and helping to get Local Roots ready for the event, I've been jamming trying to get myself ready!

Eek I need more Woolykins to fill these baskets!

Finally figured out some display issues...

Speaking of art sales/festivals, I had an opportunity to visit Oddmall in Hudson, Ohio this weekend as well. What a great event! I bought a Dead Penguin in earphones from Violent Belle:

And, a pair of d4 earrings from It's a Gamer's Thing:

BUNNIES! I've been working on building up my inventory of needle felted cuties for the holiday season and specifically for Local Roots' Holiday Market on Nov. 21.

And so, I would like to introduce you to:

Harvest Gardening Bun...

Suspicious Autumn Bun...

Gardening Bun
is already available in the Woolykins shop and I will be adding many more cuties as it gets colder and more snuggle worthy here in Ohio!

Art Every Day Month - Nov. 4

Lately, my life has felt a bit like the upturned basket of kitty toys in the photo above. Colorful, fun, busy, chaotic and a bit messy. In the past I've reacted to such insanity with a clenched jaw, hunched shoulders and a furrowed brow as I plow through the mess, doing too many things at once and nothing terribly well.

Today, I am experimenting with a different attitude towards my current upturned toy box which involves a lot more breathing, smiling and appreciation for a life full of interesting projects, challenges and opportunities.

As Art Every Day Month ramps up, I look forward to the challenge of sharing a bit of art and creativity along the way. Here is a view of my desk and a current work in progress:
