Awhile back I went on a mini supply buying binge and picked up oil pastels, charcoal and various other goodies to experiment with. These are the initial results. Above was a quick oil pastel piece and the image below utilizes handmade paper, conte crayon, marker and ebony pencil. As is typical for me, when nothing else comes to mind for subject matter, I reverted to random illustrated ladies.

Those are very cool! You have such an original use of colour!!! Do you illustrate magazines and such? The second one in particular would look great in a magazine, I think.
I love them both. I recently discovered oil pastels too and have been having lots of fun. Well, I say 'discovered'... in reality they have been sitting in pristine condition in my supplies box for years waiting for to finally do something with them! What a waste!
Thank you both!
Maria-Thérèse, I've never illustrated for a magazine but would love to!
WrightStuff, it's so tough to actually start using new materials when they look so pristine in their box. You won't be disappointed when you do, however!
Just had to let you know that I was so inspired by your artwork that I sat down and had a bit of fun tonight. Posted it on my blog! Thanks!!!
