Fave Etsy Finds – My Grey Sky

Kimberley Laurenti of My Grey Sky is a chicky after my own heart! She was a featured seller on Etsy this past May (read the interview here) and it's chock full of goodness. Gorey, David Lynch, The Cure and Radiohead? Amen sister!

Kimberly's sculptural figures are whimsical and one-of-a-kind.

I love this quote about selling on Etsy and believe it rings so true:
"Be really thoughtful about your work, make it the best it can be. Make sure it is something you will enjoy making over and over (if you are lucky). I was talking about this to my husband and he had a really great thought which was to make things you really like. I think when people make things with too much emphasis on what other people will like or what people will buy, it dilutes the idea. I think that if you really like what you've made and put your heart into it, it will show."

I look forward to seeing more work and adding a piece to my collection soon!

These pieces remind me of Egyptian canopic jars...with the animal heads on top..that were used in burial for the person organs. That's just the first thing that came to mind when I saw the photo of the three lined up. Kind of appropriate, in a sense, especially when you think of the "work" element.

I love this stuff though!! So awesome! Thanks for sharing. Actually, Jen, thanks for sharing all this good stuff on your blog.

Peace & Love.
