Monday Inspiration – Collected Tidbits

For the holiday weekend here in the states I took a bit of a computer hiatus. I'm excited because now I have that much more to share with my favorite peeps this week!

A Quote (or two to get over that creative block):

"If you hear a voice within you say "you cannot paint," then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced."
Vincent Van Gogh

"I don't think there's any artist of any value who doesn't doubt what they're doing. "
Francis Ford Coppola

A Painting:
MARC CHAGALL

“Paris through the window”, 1913 - oil on canvas, 135.8- 141.4 cm. - New York, Guggenheim Museum (www.guggenheim.org) via The Art Wolf.com

A Book:

Good Omens, by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett = good laughs, insightful commentary and fantasy. Fun, fun, fun.

A Song:
And as long as we are on the topic of fantasy and fun...

Neil Gaiman is my hero! I am just starting to work my way through his back catalogue. Have you read Neverwhere? Amazing imagination.

I've actually seen that painting in New York! Yay! Only been to the U.S. once, stayed in NY for a bit more than a week and didn't know how to ride the bus.

I love love love Neverwhere. It's my fave of Neil's books. He's speaking in Cleveland in a few weeks and I'm about jumping out of my skin with excitement!

Maria-Thérèse: New York is fantastic! I'm glad you've been able to visit. The buses are not so good... subway and walking are the way to go! :)
