When I heard about this film last year, I knew it would, indeed, be Fantastic. A Roald Dahl book, filmed by Wes Anderson in stop motion!?
I finally had a chance to sit down and watch it a few days ago and I smiled from ear to ear throughout the entire film. Now, I'm a sucker for stop-animation (Rankin/Bass, Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline...) and the artistry involved with the process, but Fantastic Mr. Fox surprised me with it's cleverness and uniqueness of vision. It was what I love about Wes Anderson's films, but animated!
Here's a nice little behind the scenes video...
And I just ADORE this concept art by Chris Appelhans (from CGRecord.net)...
